There is a saying that "Puertoricans are like rice" and I shall say it is true because we are everywhere around the whole world. As it is true to say that rice is everywhere around the world, so are puertoricans. Who does not like to eat rice? A grain that is common in any part of the entire world. This can be eaten in any way even by itself (of course cooked). Rice is one of the most typical grains in Puerto Rico. This grain is a must in the boricua's kitchen table, which is served in different ways for many dishes in every part and corner of the island. Also It is a must for a big event on any part of the island.

It is cooked in a pot known as Caldero to create a crust that many people appreciate eating. The crust can be soft or very crunchy while having its unique flavor as the boricua is. Its flavor will depend on what is included in the pot.  Rice can be eaten white with a hint of salt or with any type of meat and commonly pork is used the most. Rice will never lose its essence wherever it goes and I must say puertorricans never lose their essence wherever they are. It is always a pleasure to use other components to enrich this grain and enhance its fragrance with condiments that are appealing to the palate. This nourish grain can be found in different colors and different flavors and be combined with other grains of different essence. There is black, brown, and the most common white grain while it can be found in different sizes. Eating it is not harmful as long as it is consumed at the right portion and enhances the healthy habits that a person implements. Let no fear hold you back from having a good taste of this grain that enriches life and gives life purpose.
